Clean Water and Sanitation
Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all
About this goal
VMRF (DU) promotes Clean Water and Sanitation through water conservation, hygiene, sanitation and responsible water-use practices. The University encourages efficient utilisation of water resources across its campuses and institutions. Wastewater management and proper sanitation practices support a healthy and sustainable campus environment. Awareness programmes promote personal hygiene, sanitation and prevention of water-related diseases. Students and staff are encouraged to reduce water wastage and adopt responsible water-management practices. Community outreach programmes extend awareness of hygiene and sanitation to surrounding communities.
Why this goal matters to us
VMRF DU can contribute to SDG 6 by promoting responsible water use, maintaining hygienic campus facilities, and encouraging water conservation practices across its campuses and institutional operations. Through awareness programmes and student participation, the University can encourage the adoption of water-saving practices and strengthen understanding of the importance of clean water, sanitation, and hygiene.
VMRF DU can further support sustainable water management through rainwater harvesting, wastewater treatment and reuse, regular maintenance of water and sanitation facilities, and initiatives to reduce water wastage, wherever implemented. Collaboration with local communities and relevant organisations can also help promote water conservation, sanitation awareness, and environmental responsibility. These efforts can contribute to healthier communities and the sustainable management of water resources.
