No Poverty

End poverty in all its forms everywhere

About this goal

Sustainable Development Goal 1 (No Poverty), established by the United Nations as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, aims to end poverty in all its forms everywhere. It focuses on eradicating extreme poverty, reducing the proportion of people living in poverty, strengthening social protection systems, and ensuring equal access to essential services, economic resources, and opportunities. SDG 1 also emphasises building the resilience of vulnerable populations to economic, social, and environmental shocks and disasters.

Why this goal matters to us

VMRF (DU) can contribute to the achievement of SDG 1 through inclusive education, skill development, healthcare outreach, community engagement, and initiatives that expand access to learning and essential services. Educational opportunities and professional training can help individuals develop employable skills, improve their livelihood prospects, and participate more effectively in social and economic development. Community-oriented initiatives can also help raise awareness of available welfare services and support vulnerable and underserved populations.

Through its commitment to inclusive growth, social responsibility, and community development, VMRF (DU) aims to support efforts to reduce inequalities in access to education and healthcare and promote opportunities for disadvantaged communities. By encouraging collaboration with community organisations, public institutions, and other stakeholders, the University can contribute to poverty alleviation and the broader objective of creating a more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable society.
