Sustainable Cities and Communities
Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable
About this goal
Sustainable Development Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) aims to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable. It focuses on sustainable urban development, accessible public spaces, environmental protection, efficient resource management, disaster resilience, and the preservation of cultural and natural heritage.
Why this goal matters to us
VMRF (DU) can contribute to SDG 11 by promoting sustainable campus development, environmental awareness, and responsible management of institutional facilities. Through initiatives that encourage energy and water conservation, waste management, green spaces, accessibility, and resource efficiency, the University can support the creation of healthier, safer, and more sustainable learning environments.
VMRF DU can further support sustainable communities through community outreach, public awareness programmes, research, and collaboration with local authorities and community organisations. Initiatives promoting environmental responsibility, disaster preparedness, inclusive facilities, and the protection of natural surroundings, wherever implemented, can strengthen community resilience and encourage sustainable practices beyond the campus.
