Responsible Consumption and Production
Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
About this goal
VMRF (DU) promotes Responsible Consumption and Production through waste segregation, recycling, reuse, and efficient resource management. The University encourages responsible handling of institutional, biomedical, plastic, and other wastes. Students and staff are encouraged to reduce unnecessary consumption of paper, water, electricity, and other resources. Awareness programmes promote waste reduction, plastic control, recycling, and sustainable consumption.
Why this goal matters to us
VMRF (DU) can contribute to SDG 12 by promoting responsible resource utilisation and sustainable practices across its academic, administrative, and campus operations. Through waste segregation, recycling, reuse, reduction of single-use plastics, and efficient use of water, energy, and other materials, the University can encourage a culture of environmental responsibility among students, faculty, staff, and service providers.
VMRF DU can further support responsible consumption and production through sustainable procurement, environmentally conscious purchasing, responsible waste disposal, and awareness programmes on resource conservation. Encouraging suppliers, contractors, and service providers to adopt sustainable practices can strengthen the University’s efforts to minimise waste and reduce environmental impacts throughout its operations. These initiatives can contribute to a cleaner campus and a more sustainable future.
